Elizabeth 'Tizzy' Bennett , WA. Former Director of Community Health and Engagement, Seattle Children's Hospital; Clinical Instructor, School of Public Health at the University of Washington. Tizzy co-led the Washington State Drowning Prevention Network and co-edited the Prevention Section of the Drowning Handbook. She has led numerous drowning prevention initiatives with a focus on increasing life jacket use and access to safe places to swim and recreate in and on the water.

Chris Stec served as the Chief Operating Officer of the American Canoe Association (ACA) for 12 years. Prior to that, he worked as an outdoor instructor for the YMCA, a raft guide for the Nantahala Outdoor Center, a Program Director at Falling Creek Camp and in the ACA’s Safety Education & Instruction Department.
Chris is currently the Past Chair of the National Safe Boating Council. He has served on the Boy Scouts of America’s National Aquatics Taskforce, on various committees for the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, and on the boards of the Professional Paddlesports Association and the United Safe Boating Institute. He also served two appointed terms on the U.S. Coast Guard’s National Boating Safety Advisory Council. Chris holds and uses several paddlesports instructor ratings. He has published articles in several magazines and contributed to numerous publications and educational videos. Part of his role at the ACA included oversight of the Olympic and Paralympic disciplines of Slalom, Sprint and Paracanoe. |
